Snowboarding on a Budget – Heavenly Resort

I have the Epic Pass because I love the resorts!! You can download the Epic Pass app onto your smartphone to see your stats such as vertical feet, see photos, etc.  If you snowboard at least 5 days, then it pays for itself. The epic pass also includes 6 buddy tickets and 6 ski with a friend tickets if you purchase it before a certain deadline (April 9th I believe). More info here.

The Epic Local Pass ($639) Includes:Yeti-Epic-Pass
1. Afton Alps
2. Arapahoe Basin
3. Beaver Creek
4. Breckenridge
5. Heavenly Mountain
6. Keystone

10. Park City
11. Perisher
12. Stowe Mountain

As far as flying to – I use my points on Southwest Airlines to fly into Reno, Park City, and Denver. This is the best airline because prices are cheap AND you don’t have to pay extra for your snowboard bag.IMG_0033

Anyways – the most expensive part about snowboarding are the lift tickets. After that, I found some pretty sweet deals for the winter season.

South Lake Tahoe – Heavenly Resort

Airfare:
Southwest Airlines – LAX to RNO (Reno Airport) Nonstop
$188 Round Trip OR 10,688 points + $11.20 tax

Transportation from RNO airport:
You can rent a car but sometimes that can be very expensive, especially if it’s snowing and you need an AWD car. All the hotel/casinos offer free parking.

Another option is the shuttle. There is a shuttle that takes you up to the hotels on the strip. You can find more information on SouthTahoeAirporter.com. Save money and buy a round trip bus ticket. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the airport baggage claim area. Round trip costs $53.00.

Lodging:
I found rooms on hotels.com at MontBleu for $77/night! The hotels you see above (except Lakeside) is walking distance from Heavenly Resort.

Eats:
Grab breakfast and Lucky Beaver Bar & Burger – open 24/7

If you go up on the gondola, make sure to stop into Tamarack Lodge to get their Bacon Bloody Marys. The candied bacon is to die for – you won’t regret it.BloodyMary.jpg

Base Camp Pizza – located in the village. Great for big groups. The Thai curry pizza is my favorite.

And finally, the pan roast at the Oyster Bar inside Hard Rock Hotel is an absolute must!!
